His Eminence, Cardinal George Pell, Catholic Voices UK founders, Austen Ivereigh and Jack Valero, and James van Schie of the Archdiocese of Sydney - "The future of the Church amidst new leadership"

  • 24 May 2013

The Sheraton on the Park venue for the second Sydney Catholic Business Network luncheon for the year was filled to capacity as members and guests were treated to several key note addresses centred on the future of the Church amidst new leadership. Speakers included Cardinal George Pell, Catholic Voices UK founders, Austen Ivereigh and Jack Valero, and James van Schie of the Sydney Archdiocese, all of whom captivated an attentive audience with their observations and experiences.

Cardinal Pell provided a fascinating personal account of the recent Conclave in Rome that ushered in the new Pope Francis. Jack Valero provided a provocative examination on the global issues affecting the modern Catholic identity, while James van Schie explored the domestic dimension through his involvement with the recently launched Catholic Talk, a group of lay and religious people who seek to share the Catholic faith in the media and participate in public discourse with respect, humility, truth and clarity.
