Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP, Archbishop of Sydney

Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP, Archbishop of Sydney was born in Sydney and entered the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in 1985 after receiving degrees in History and Law and practising law in a city firm.

After studying for the priesthood in Melbourne he was ordained a priest in Sydney in 1991. He completed a Doctorate in Bioethics at the University of Oxford and lectured at Australian Catholic University.

He was the foundation Director of the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and the Family, Melbourne and remains Professor of Moral Theology and Bioethics in the Institute.

In 2003, Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney and during that time he was Co-ordinator of World Youth Day 2008. Whilst in Sydney he has been Deputy-Chancellor of the Catholic Institute of Sydney, Adjunct Professor in The University of Notre Dame Australia, and a member of the Company of the Australian Catholic University. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Anthony the third Bishop of Parramatta.

Archbishop Fisher has worked extensively with the Catholic Education Office, principals and staff on the mission and identity of Catholic schools today, and with youth ministers and groups in promoting the connection of young people with the Church.

On 18 September 2014, Pope Francis appointed him the ninth Archbishop of Sydney. His installation took place at St Mary’s Cathedral on Wednesday 12 November.


Mrs Nerida Caesar

Mrs Nerida Caesar is the Chairperson of the Sydney Catholic Business Network.  Nerida was appointed CEO and Managing Director of Veda (a financial services provider, including credit scoring) in 2011 and headed up its very successful IPO listing in December 2013.  Nerida has over 25 years’ experience both in Australia and internationally in sales, marketing and business management having previously held a number of senior executive positions as Group Managing Director and Executive Director roles at Telstra, as well as a Vice President role of IBM’s Intel Server Division for the Asia-Pacific region.  Nerida is a member of the University of Technology Vice Chancellor’s Industry Advisory board.
